About VBL
Vedros BioscienceLaboratories was founded in 1991 by Professor Emeritus
Neylan Vedros, PhD, U.C. Berkeley. After 25 years of research on medicinal
plant extracts for use in humans, Dr. Vedros and his veterinary colleagues
began to develop unique plant extract formulations for use on domestic pet
animals.
The first topical spray formulation was shown to relieve symptoms of
inflammation and pain, inhibit the important bacteria, fungi, and yeasts
associated with "hot spots" and is particularly effective for ring worm in
cats. The basic ingredients in the spray were included with other extracts
in shampoo concentrates formulated specifically for older dogs,
cats/kittens, and puppies. Using a combination of 8 plant extracts, a unique
moisturiser, lanolin based hair detangler, and insect repellent was
developed under the name Comfi-Spray.
More recently, VBL has expanded its product line to include 3 new
products for caged birds: anti-pick and mite-repellent sprays, and a gel for
inflamed feet. In addition, a spray for skin irritations, particularly "rain
scald" in horses and a therapeutic equine shampoo was introduced plus an
effective all-natural ear cleanser for dogs and cats, and a spray for mite
infestations in reptiles and amphibians.
VBL is dedicated to working only with natural, medicinal plant extracts
that are safe, non-toxic and friendly to the environment. Research continues
on other unique plant extract formulations for topical use on minor skin
diseases in a variety of animals.
