Birds often pick at their feathers for a variety of reasons such as psychogenic, hormonal, boredom, and/or poor nutrition. This self-mutilation can lead to unsightly, inflamed skin, and if severe, to infections and death. C-DERM Anti-Pick Spray was developed with medicinal plant extracts that are known to relieve symptoms of inflammation, itching, microbial infections, and includes an extract for sedation.

Contents:

The formulation includes a proprietary extract to prevent picking, extracts of Anthemis nobilis for inflamed, irritated skin, Organum vulgare to relieve itching, Echinacea augustifolia for antimicrobial activity, and Passiflora incarnata for sedative effect.

Application:

To apply, restrain the bird and spray the affected area at least 2-3 times a day or as necessary until the bird stops picking and the feathers begin to regrow. Cover bird seed and water dishes and avoid the bird's eyes when spraying.

For other mites, restrain the bird, cover dishes and bird's eyes, and spray directly on the bird's feathers from 6-8 inches away. It is improtant to get a fine mist and a nebulizer could be used if necessary. Apply the spray as often as necessary.

Foot Balm

For Caged Birds

Pododermatitis refers to any inflammatory or degenerative condition of birds' feet. The infection may range from very mild ( Grades I-III) lesions common in Psittaciformes and Passeriformes species to severe (Grades IV-V) lesions in older birds and raptors. The infection is usually due to inadequate perches, poor nutrition, poor husbandry and/or trauma. C-DERM Foot Balm Gel was developed from plant extracts known to help relieve symptoms of inflammation, prevent opportunistic bacteria and fungi, and accelerate wound healing.

Contents:

The formulation contains extracts of: Chondrus (pyranoside esters), Licorice root, menthol, condensed tannins, and pectin.

Application:

For mild inflammed lesions, the gel can be applied directly with gauze or cotton. Use vapor permeable dressing and change daily. For severe infections, a veterinarian should be consulted. After surgery, the gel will aid in wound healing and prevent opportunistic infections.
